Flu hysteria. The only epidemic is misinformation. - 05-02-2009, 02:17 PM

I really do not understand this swine flu panic.

It seems to me to be no bid deal.

If out media spent 2% of this much time and attention on getting our population vaccinated each year our nation would be a better safer place.

This N1H1 Swine flu:
1. Is more susceptible to anti-viral meds than the Flu-A of the last couple of seasons.
2. Is no more virulent or easily transmitted than the usual seasonal influenza.

So, why the hysteria?

I still do not see the rationale behind school closures.
Kids in schools are not a vaccinated population, in general, and flu runs through schools every year.

Here: CDC page http://www.cdc.gov/flu/keyfacts.htm

Every year millions in the US get the flu.
Thousands die of "flu-related causes", whatever the heck that means.

Next year get vaccinated.
This year.....life as ususal.....except for the media/web driven craziness.

I just do not get it.
