Looking for Oil and Gas Industry pictures - 05-12-2009, 01:29 PM

Does anyone have a good source for (preferably royalty free) O&G / Industry pictures? Workers, Equipment, Machinery, Transportation, etc etc. My company is redoing it's brochure and we need an update from the awesome 80's images that are on there. I actually have no problem with paying a royalty for them if need be, but the boss thinks we can yank them off of any website...

Thanks!

Tell your boss to go ahead and yank them from some websites. When he has to pay treble the going rate, he'll wish he had purchased them legally.

Ask your boss if he/she works for free. Or maybe contact the Port Aransas folks (another thread). :)

You know that's really a great comment Tom. The OP is trying to help and you're baiting. Perhaps you might reconsider your comment before this becomes a wanna-be pro pile on, huh?

where do you work exactly? is there no way you can take pictures at your own work for this brochure?

I have pictures from the oil and gas industry...but they are from MY work. my workers, my equipment, and such. and i dont think they'd be too happy with you using them, or id let you. lol

What kind of stuff are you looking for? There are lots of new processing plants, businesses and such around Fort Worth. I have a shot of one of them on my gallery page now.

Actually, your boss is wrong. And stock photos are very inexpensive these days, so there's no reason not to obtain them legally. You can probably get them for a buck or two per photo.

Geeze, pay a couple bucks for an Istock photo. There's so many willing to give their work away for near nothing that you may as well drop a couple clams for some pics.

First, Thanks Scott.

Second- I'm well aware at how not cool it is to get them free off a website. My boss was looking to do just that, I am the one that stopped it and am looking for stock photos. I don't care if they cost money, I just am looking for Royalty free ones so we can continue to use them in the future. So before you jump down my throat- I am not looking to steal anyone's work, just looking for a good resource to purchase some.

To answer the question of my work- we're a medical consulting firm. Besides handling any sort of medical need, we mainly do immediate intervention/case management for injured workers. Our clients are primarily O&G- Halliburton, Baker Hughes, BP, Chevron, Marathon, and the hundreds of service companies and contractors that work for them. So the kind of pictures I have in mind- rigs, pipelines, trucks, and anyone on the jobsite working on rigs, pipelines, tankers, etc etc.

Thanks.

I think we all want to jump down the boss's throat. You are to be commended. Might try these.

I worked in the Awl Biz during the 1980s and took lots of pics when I could. Worked at the Kern River Field, outside Bakersfield, CA, so I have some pics of the operations there, including some of the steam drive system that was used there. Have various pics of other surface facilities, and some nice pics of offshore operations (taken from onshore with long lenses).

My images are available as stock. I've included a low-rez sample below. Send me a PM if you're interested, and I can send you some samples. I hope I'm not violating any forum rules by stating this -- just responding to a request.

Best,

Michael

Glad at least YOU have some sense. Someone else said it - does your *&*&^^%^% boss work for free?
Try dreamstime.com or canstockphoto.com for royalty free.

I also have an early sunrise refinery landscape on my website that I'm willing to sell if you want to take a look.

PM me if you're interested.

Don't know if you'd be interested in wind energy?
