I would like to witness a space shuttle launch. Of course, I hope to bring a lot of gear along when I do, perhaps an IR camera.

I definately think, when I'm ready to upgrade bodies, I'm converting the XTi.

I've always wanted to convert a body, but I never seem to keep possible IR candidates around for long. I'm not about to send my (primary and currently only) body for conversion right now.

Thanks for posting the link, Keith!

I shot around JSC today with my IR converted F828 and am pretty darn sure I'll be converting something newer soon. The 828 does a decent job but takes a little while to save RAW files, and has a 2004 tech LCD and EVF. The G1 would be cool but I think I'll stick A-mount. The STF and Fisheye could be pretty cool with IR.

Your statement reminds me of something that I read, that wide-angle lenses typically don't work well in near infrared.

Like my rhyme?

Anyway, you should test how well your proposed setup works in IR before you spend a lot of money on it.

Hahaha, catchy.

I am thinking A-mount because I do have experience with unmodded IR photos using my former A700 and a few different lenses. I think you may be correct on the WA lenses. I do seem to remember hearing that too. My 16-80 worked well, but that was on an APS-C so it was more wide-normal I guess.
