It's not just the large endowment that make museums work. It's the members.

If you like what the Kimbell brings to us, become a member.

Next time you are going to be at the Kimbell, let me know. Perhaps we can take in the exhibit and grab a bite.

P.S. I have not made it to L&R yet, schedule has been very busy.

Put me on the list.

I think the food's a bit better at the Modern, but they both are good.

Jeeze he painted that when he was around 12?
I probably saw the work in the Ufizi, one of the worlds great museums, and I have seen many of his other works but this is GREAT for the Kimball. Whenever I am travelling or meet people who are visting I tell them that they have to make it to the Kimball to see the collection and while they are there go across the street to the Carter and if time allows go to the Modern.

So I wonder where this painting has been setting for the last couple hundred years and so many wars?

He was apprenticed to Domenico Ghirlandaio at age 13 and by 14 Ghirlandaio was paying him a small wage. This was unheard of in the apprentice system at that time.

I'm reading a Michelangelo biography right now.

This is unbelievably HUGE. I don't know how they did it but I'm excited as all get out to see this painting in person.

Cow Town has some incredible museums, and this not only confirms it but may help bring more attention to them. I can see the bumper stickers and T-shirts now ...

"It's not the size of your endowment, it's how you use it."
"Fort Worth museums ... we're well-endowed and proud of it."
