Bruce McBroom was being interviewed (he was the photographer) a couple days ago on TV about the Farrah Fawcett shoot that created that iconic image of her in her red swimsuit.
Well he said that he was sent out to shoot her, she was married to Lee Majors at the time, and he shot about 20 rolls of film and just didn't get the shot that he wanted. He was down to the last two color rolls and she had changed into several outfits and bathing suits for the day but still not the right shot. So he decided to go to his pick up and grab the indian style blanket that he used to cover his seat (it was in pretty sad shape and was full of tears and holes in the upholstery) and she changed into the red swimsuit and history was made. He knew that after a few shots that he had gotten what he was looking for.
After shooting the last two rolls of color film that he had brought she decided to go to the swimming pool and cool off and he saw another opportunity and shot some Black and White shots of her.
Some people ask why she wasn't in a bikini, well it turns out that she has a scar on her belly from a childhood surgery and she did not feal confortable in a bikini and always wore one pieces that covered her stomach.
If you have not heard Farrah is very sick right now with colon cancer and may not be around much longer.
