My 14 Year Old Daughter Using Small Flash Lighting (Strobist) - 06-28-2009, 10:27 PM

I finally got the rest of the stuff I wanted for my three light strobist setup this week.. so I coerced my daughter into coming into the studio today to help me test it all out together.... after fiddling with individual lights, adding and subtracting, I brought them all together...

Powered by two Vivitar 285HVs .. one in an umbrella, one in a softbox.. both with Microsync receivers (thanks Debbi!) and a third ancient Vivtar flash with an orange gel for a background light on an optical trigger.

Pulled back..

Nice lighting, like the 3 light setup!

light is light, and knowing how to use it works pretty much the same for expensive studio power strobes as for inexpensive camera flash units.

Good photo of her.

loving the first shot. really nice.

if you're going to do a full body shot, remember to tell your subject to always keep their back straight.

Heh, you do realize that the second shot is just to show placement of the lights in relation to the subject, right?

Thanks for commenting. :)

I like it Brad. One of these days I'll get a third light. Always have liked that effect with gels.

Looks good, Brad. It's fun to play with flashes. BTW, she is really growing up!

Ray, wasn't that "model" at the strobist meetup last month? I think I recognize her!
