My niece...15 years old. C/C wanted - 06-30-2009, 11:05 PM

Here are a few shots I took of my niece tonight. She's 15 and visiting from out of town.

The shots have had minor p/p. Let me know what you think. Be honest. Tell me how I can improve.

I like all the shots. To be honest, I think they are pretty well done. But make her smile a bit. She kind of tried it in the first one.

At each location/pose, etc, I shot some of her smiling and serious. For some reason I just like the serious looks.

I think #2 and #3 are fantastic. I had a play with #2, I hope you don't mind. If you want me to take it down just let me know.

Many of my pictures of my 15 y.o. daughter have a similar expression. With her I think it's called "Dad, are you done yet?!"

I like all of them, expecially the one on the bumper of the truck.

Nice, where did you find the old truck and fence line? Love them.

Love the truck too.

Are these SOC of photoshopped? They seem to lack punch.

Loved the truck too.

The original could use a little curves adjustment, but that ^^^ looks like it came out of a Canon p&s set to Vivid Colors.

The colors in the originals are nice and natural. I think the curves just need to be tweaked a little to brighten up the midtones. They came out real nice, i just wish she had more of a smile on some.

I did a little exposure adjustment and vignetted some of them a little, but nothing more yet. I'll saturate the colors a little more for the final image. For some reason, when I resize them to post, I lose a little of the punch that the images have on my computer. When I post them, they seem to come out a little flat. Any suggestions for that?

As for the fence line and truck...I just drove around Denton County and found stuff on the side of the road. If it looked good I just talked to the resident and asked to shoot there.

I went out with the intention of working on balancing flash with ambient light but ultimately never used a flash at all.

Great locations and poses, I don't know if she needs to be smiling, but she has the same expression in all of these. Something different would add interest to the series. I also agree about the "punch" thing, some added contrast/curves adjustment would make these even better. Awesome work.

Make sure you convert your color profile to srgb and save for web, or do a save-as but make sure you embed the srgb color profile in the save-as dialog box in photoshop.

these are nice, they do look underexposed a little...adjust curves and pop your saturation a little....great job....love the truck!

These are great. Can't believe she's only 15. The truck shot is neat, the only thing that I would say is that the pose is not the most appealing, or maybe she just wasn't as comfy in it. There is that crease under her neck that is distracting to me. :)

Thanks. I didn't even notice that. As for comfort, I don't think it was very comfortable. There wasn't a lot of room on that bumper. I really think it's the details like that which make the difference between a good shot and a great shot. I'll watch for that.
