Cute Baby alert, My first Baby Session - 08-16-2009, 08:55 PM

Had my first baby session yesterday with this cute little 11 month old named Landen and thought I would share a few of the photos here. And yes his eyes are this blue and pretty much any of these are straight out of the camera and only cropped and Sharpened or turned to b&w.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Stephen Gibson

Nice set Stephen. I like #3 (B&W) but seems a little hot in the feet & face area. I also like #4. What BLUE eyes.

He looks like an itty bitty old man in the first one! That's not a criticism, just an observation.

From an opinion standpoint, if I had taken these I think the only keeper would be the last one. The expressions, exposures (a bit overexposed in places), crops and compositions don't speak to me. No. 3 comes close to pretty good, but his skin looks blown out and the shadow his left foot appears to be casting on his hand kind of blows it for me. Hope that doesn't sound too harsh; considering your regular model work you share with us, I know you can improve on photographing children if you want to.

Added: Guess I should add that although I like closeness and intimacy portrayed in photos, esp. of kids, the crops/compositions are just TOO tight for me to like them. Give this critter some room to breathe!

David,
Thank you for taking the time to look and comment, it is greatly appreciated, I will have to go back to #3 and lower some of the hotness on his face, cause I think in that one the action I ran on it to B&W has a tendancy to make things brighter in this case. As far as hotness on the foot, that is my fault, that is my flash turned up way to high and not at the right angle, therefore casting the shadow you see as well as the hotness.

Thanks again and if you were able to see the full res file of this boys Blues, you would see what I mean.

Todd,
Thank you as well buddy for taking the time to look and you are not being harsh at all, Honesty is what I need sometimes to WAKE ME UP :) I do see what you mean by the first photo and I'll see if I can make it more unnoticeable that he looks like a little bitty old man.

As for the over exposure, I guess its time to recalibrate my monitor, cause as stated these were pretty much right out of the camera and the histogram looked pretty even all across the board so not sure what could be causing the overexposures.

And will make mental note to move back just a ways on the little ones, I know Grandma and Grandpa told me they wanted close ups and I took it a little too literal.

Thanks again for taking the time to look and comment it is greatly appreciated.
