Very nice for your first attempt ( or any for that matter ).
My only comment would be that the shadows are rather harsh and crisp.
To soften the shadows, move the light closer to the subject.
Sometimes this is not possible, but when it is and you are cropping tight you will get improved results with softer shadows.

Very good for your first attempt. The second one is the best of this series. On the first one the flash is about a half stop too hot and on the last one it is a stop over. Be careful when you have someone lean out like on the last one. Have them use their back muscles for support and only put enough weight on the hand to keep from falling. Then pull the upper arm away from the body. That will help eliminate the football player shoulder.

Wow - awesome info on the pose/lean out! I'm gonna make use of that!
