Outdoor Quinceanera using the TriCoast TTL Flash Method - 10-29-2009, 03:37 PM

This young lady came in for her Quinceanera Portrait. Her Mom wanted an elegant image that showed a "Timeless" quality about it... a nice 20x24 that she can put on her wall. We started out in the Studio and finished up Outdoors.

I also had the opportunity to attend a TTL Wireless Flash Workshop held by TriCoast a couple of weeks ago. This was my first opportunity to utilized what I learned using their method. A "HUGE" Thanks to Mike and Cody.....

Very Nice! What are you using for triggers? RP's?
The ST-E2 is spotty in sunny conditions...

I really think you did a great job!
Can you tell us a little bit about your set up and equipment? (for those of us that could not attend the TriCoast get together)

Awesome shots....that iPhone 3Gs really does a good job! :) I may have to try that with mine.

Seriously I really like the quality of your lighting and DOF. Well done.

Hey Sam,
These were done with the Radio Poppers.....

Hi Daniel,
The Studio Set-Up was done with some Photogenic 1250DR's and a 4'x6' Softbox as a Main and a 6'x6' Scrim Jim as Reflector Fill. I also had a 1250DR on the Background using the Bare Tube and two more as Hair and Rim Lights with Strip Softboxes that had Egg Crate Grids. For the 3/4 Side Profile Shot, I substituted the 4'x6' Softbox as a Main for a 3'x4' Softbox with the Egg Crate Grid.... everything else remained the same.
For the Outdoor Images, I had 2 Canon 550EX Speedlites with Radio Poppers shooting into a 2'x3' Softbox as a Main. I used the Ambient Light as fill by exposing it anywhere from -1EV to -2EV depending on the results I wanted and also used a 42"x42" Scrim Jim Reflector to help Fill in some of the dark areas that the Ambient wasn't able to do. I had a Radio Popper sitting on a third 550EX on the Camera with Flash Compensation anywhere between -2/3 and as much as +1 depending on the results I wanted.....

Sorry Todd, that's my little way of just being a Joke-ster.....
Everything was captured on a Canon 5DMI with a 24-105mm set to 1/125 @ F/8 in Studio and Aperture Priority (Ranging anywhere from 1/90 - 1/1250) @ F/4 for Outdoors
ISO was 50 for Indoor and ranged from 50 - 400 for Outdoors.
