Allison & Justin - Outdoor Maternity - 11-09-2009, 07:08 PM

A little hesitant to put maternity in the thread title, as i know some of you dont like them - but I think these are a HUGE improvement over my last one. huge. if you look really hard, you can find the old ones - but i hope to continue improvements like this, and i need your CC to do it :) Please tell me what you like/dont like. I managed to kinda get my first sun flare, not sure how i feel about it yet. More on Blog.

Edit: they look waaaay soft in the upload here - im going to go host them and post them that way.

I'm going to take a stab at this. I am not an expert, but I think I know what the theme of the photos should be about. It should be about the mother and her baby, the connection of the husband and the wife as it relates to her pregnancy and their love for each other.

Any of your photos that focus as much on the background, or allow so much readily discerned background into the photo fails to convey those things. You need to come in tighter on most of your shots.

The flare in your photos does not add to them. It should be a small part of the photo, if done well, but not obscure nor wash out so much of the subject.

I am including a few crops, if that's okay, to show where some of your shots would work for me. Remember these are small files I'm working on. All I did was crop and place a small vignette in them to more focus attention to her. On these two photos I think the 1st one would look better with one hand on top and the other under her belly. On the second one maybe both hands on each side of her belly. Those are poses I'm not familiar with, but it seems it would look better.

I'm sure you will get other comments better then mine. It's just one opinion.

These are neat. I really like the second one best ... should be a large canvas on the wall in the nursery!

thanks! it's crazy - normally im the one who's zooming in and cropping tightly with my 70-200 and my husband/2nd shooter is the one shooting wide. i was by myself that day. i did take a few tighter crops, but obviously they arent posted. lol - but i do think i got caught up in catching the wider angles this shoot. It was on my mind the whole time cause im so used to not doing it.
