First try with Portrait Professional - 01-27-2010, 03:41 PM

This was an outdoor shoot (thats why the tree limbs in the background) using my 430EX II in a brollybox. I wish I had selected an area without the limbs in the background.

Would really appreciate some CC on the image as well as the treatment. Thanks in advance.

Looks good Jerry, you might want to sharpen the eyes.

The only thing, for whatever reason, my eye is drawn to the shadow under her nose which seems to darken that corner of her mouth.

Aside from that, I like the pose and the warm color.

+1

But it's hard to tell that sort of thing at the time when using strobes.

Trees don't bug me, FWIW

Overall, very nice :-)

I have no problem with the nose shadow, since it is where a shadow would normally fall. I would probably clone out the stray hairs around her eye, but overall it is a nice image.

The bare limbs kind of go with her scarf and evoke cold weather. It's a matter of opinion, but there's not a lot of room in the image for her ... it's like she's crammed in there. Maybe a slightly looser composition.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

In this version I did sharpen the eyes some and would have tried to decrease the amount of shadow under her nose but right now my pp skills arent where I get good results when I try.

Todd Ill try to get more room around my subject the next time. This was how tight I shot it.

Don, I worked on the stray hair that was in her eyes but as stated before my pp skills need to improve to get it to look better. I relly need to take some classes or get some instruction videos.

Here is my edited version.

One piece I just noticed (and I tend to overlook as well...) the jewelry...
Ladies like to show of their rocks when they have them, so make sure the ring is rolled up on top of the finger, as oppsed to rolled in towards the center of her hand.

The pose is nice, doesnt look forced, so all in all pretty nice.

nice shot. as has been mentioned, the shadow draws viewer attention. you could lighten it a bit. lighter shadow would also soften the "laugh lines".
