Whirlwind Galveston trip

My sister is visiting this week from Edmonton, Alberta. Considering she hates the cold weather (and it snowed right before she left!), she was ready for some heat and the beach. She and I took my two kids down to Galveston yesterday and spent the night there last night. Thought I'd share a few snapshots from the trip; composition's not great, but hey they're snapshots. :) We had a lot of fun (although unfortunately, my son avoids the camera like the plague!). It got me in the mood to offer some beach sessions this summer!

I've got some great shots of my kids the last time we were down there at the helm of the Elissa, peeking through one of the portholes, etc.

I so badly wanted a shot of him peeking through the spokes on the wheel, but he would have none of it. :(

We were at Stewart Beach. It was late in the day, they had already locked the showers building and the place was really empty - great photo ops! :) That will probably change as we're in the midst of summer now...

What hardware did you use to shoot these? I see you shoot Canon; interested to see what body and lense(s) you might have used.

The EXIF on a few of the shots say she used a Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS and 50mm.

Sonny is correct. That's all I own for now, so almost everything I post here is shot with that combo. I occasionally rent an L lens if I have a couple of paid sessions back to back. Looking forward to upgrading soon!

Want to see the EXIF data that Sonny was referring to?
Then you can search for and install OPANDA, they also have an IE plugin, so that all you have to do is right click on the photo and select View Exif.

Lots of threads on saving the EXIF with your pics too... but it boils down to this: just do a save as, not save for web.

Very nice! Personally, I still like the "feel" from the added grain on the original post.
