I love them both, but I'd do something to up the clarity in the first one, and I'd probably process the second one a bit differently. (Not sure how, without playing with it.)

Nice job! : )

I'm not a fan of flare on the subject in studio work. Even more so when it appears on their face, so number two isn't appealing to me. The very shallow DOF in the first image causes his left eye to be a bit too far OOF. The big purple splotch doesn't work for me as well. Really draws your eye away from the face. The head tilt is a bit feminine as well. Look at the difference in that regard on both images. Head to the lower shoulder in the second is more traditionally masculine and works better IMHO. Women can usually get away with either, but for men, it seems odd to the higher side.

I like the gritty processing in number two, but I just can get away from the big lens flare.

I love the flair in the second one, but not so much in the first. I think its because you can actually see whats causing the flair in the second one. Almost like a headlight in a dark alley.

I think they are both really good though, and any critique is going to be on small things.

Just one woman's opinion, which may not count for much, but to me, there's nothing feminine about that guy.

(And I like the flare....)

I like'em both. Maybe I would take the saturation a little down on the first one (or only at the red tones).

Both awesome images, did you try a horizontal crop on that first image?

I like them both. I wish more folks in these forums would leave comments. It's all part of learning.

If you ask for CC and your images are at least technically correct, I will typically offer my opinion. If you post images made with on camera flash that are under or over exposed, poorly framed, and over processed, don't be surprised if you get few or no replies. At least not from me... Of course YMMV.

I know I don't use on camera flash, not sure what your definition of technically correct is, and for processing I usually just tweak contrast a bit and add a frame and watermark. I enjoy feedback as a learning tool as I think most do here.
