Cute girl - Good photography? - 06-10-2010, 12:25 PM

I have got an opportunity to shoot this cute girl over this weekend.
Let me know what you think about photography... please critique.

First four images are natural light.. used flash on rest of them.
Only LR(Light Room) corrections except on #04.

Also, let me know your comments on color consistency in #06 thru #09. I use Photovision target for WB (white balance).. but it was giving me very warm colors. I adjusted WB later in LR.

Nice set. But I feel #5 and #10 don't really go with her young innocent look. Especially #10.

The first shot to me seems awkward and so does #3. I don't think her putting her arms back behind the bench works for her.

But overall some good shots. #4, #6, and #9 being your best in my opinion.

I like them but I agree the last one is overboard for her age.

Nice expressions. I like 6 and 8 a lot.

Your auto-WB may be putting too much magenta on her face...

Bryan, Thanks for your comments.

I didn't do auto-WB. I shoot the target for each setting.. and set the custom white balance in the camera. Sometimes, I do the WB later in LR.

For the first time after I started using the target, I didn't get accurate colors from the target.

For example, for #06, LR white balance for the Target is Temp 7500 and Tint +19.

With those settings the image is looking like this. To me it looks very warm.. but I might be wrong.

For the image posted in first post.. I used Temp 6000 and Tint +6.

Renae,
If your picture was from two years ago, I see why you were concerned. They do look very similar.......

#4 is IMO the strongest of the set, the first few I find myself wanting more light in her eyes, they just don't pop.

the last one really just doesn't seem to fit at all, it doesn't feel age appropriate, and as previously mentioned doesn't seem to fit her innocence.
