June activity...c&c por favor? (17 shots...) - 07-03-2010, 10:53 PM

Rounded off a pile-o-shoots in June, and now its time for vacation! We get back July 16.

Naturally, I'll still be checking email, FB, dA, and TPF while we're out - I know, sad right? - so I thought I'd ask for some c&c love (or hate) about my June activities...

I've gone and reduced them to some 50% of the file size they usually are, as I've heard from a few TPF-ers that my images load toooooo sloooooow. Further, I've dropped 17 shots on you guys here. If thats way too much - lemme know.

So...without further ado...c&c?

Nino, I think #4, #6 and #9 are great images. #4 reminds me of the elegant simplicity of the fashion work that Irving Penn did - strong graphic content and lots of character and layers to peel.

#6 has wicked lighting, and the same sparse simplicty of #4 above.

#9 has also great lighting, and the emotional connection is wonderful, it speaks to me.

I'll leave it at that!

If I'm honest, he conveys great expressiveness every time we shoot, even though he's generally subtle; he's quite good and always so relaxed and comfortable. I think it comes thru quite well.

#9 is one of those moments that you don't plan for. The shot above it, #8, was the theme, the tone, we were going for - something a little more intense, more "machismo". However, #9 happened during one of those funny improv moments, and I just happened to capture it anyway. :)

Thanks Paco...

A day late, but I have to ask how you did the lighting of the backdrop in #2 - love the color change and coordination/accent with the outfit.

Speaking to the photos- they all connect well, fantastic technical approach, good posing.

I have sooo much to learn.

Light on #2 is simply two gels taped together and centered over the light reflector. I've done this a couple of times with subtle blends, but decided to use it on this shot with wholly contrasting colors to play with and complement all the pink.

Thanks...
