Was busy last month with my day job and photography work, on top of family stuff, and I just realized I never posted these. I wanted to ask for any tips/tricks for shooting during such a hot day with small children. I got some decent shots, but I don't love any of them. The mom was ecstatic, she didn't have any decent pictures of the kids together, and very few of them apart, so I was glad she was pleased. But still, I prefer to come up with results that really please me too! Apart from bringing a helper along to hold a diffuser and/or reflector, do you guys have any suggestions?

The rest of the set is here - Ethan & Emma - a set on Flickr

And here are some shots from a newborn session I did for a co-worker.

Amy, I know someone who had good luck with holding his speedlight in his hand and popping it with a radio popper when he didn't have an assistant or reflector available. It was a trick he learned at work (he's a photographer for the Air Force.)

I considered that. I don't currently have radio poppers, as I only own 1 flash. I'll have to look into that.
