So cute!!! I love them :) I'm in no position to give you firm advice but if it were me, I would lite them up just a little when editing. All in all, very cute baby and I think you're doing great :)

These are really cute. A couple of suggestions to take them to the next level: Move the subject away from dead center. The composition is too balanced and its breaking up your flow. The 1st image seems a little soft. I know compression can make it look that way. Check her hair at acutal pix and see if it is soft. The last shot is really cute, but the babies skirt needs to be lit better to pull it off the background. Its getting lost. More directional light will help too. The lighting it a little flat.

Thank you both for your comments. I completely agree on the lighting, I usually try to shoot outside b/c I don't have the lighting equipment, or the know-how to light well indoors. Unfortunately a thunderstorm kept us indoors on this particular day.

Any other comments are welcome, I feel like I'm 'stuck' at this level where the photos are cute but you can tell they are just not quite there yet...

Thanks!

You can use ghetto lights or bounce your flash and that will help a lot while you learn how to mater lighting. (Im not sure how long that takes as Im always working on it.) Bouncing flash off of foam core is a cheap easy trick that gives great lighting. Way better than direct flash.

You're welcome :)

I'm in the same boat as you! I'm learning too and actually just made my own diffuser and bought foam board for reflectors, like Holly suggested and now I just need to learn how to use them

I think these are precious!

Where in Houston are you located? If you don't mind me asking :D

Erica, I'm in the Meyerland area. You?

I have an external flash and I was bouncing off the ceiling with the reflector on the floor (simply b/c there was no one to hold it elsewhere). LOL

Deer Park :)

I have one of those too someone gave me but I was told it's for a film camera so it's hard to sync it with my digi..It works fine but when I'm in poor light it wants to flash then leave my shutter open too long, so the pictures come out too blurry :( I hope there's a way to use it correctly..I will just have to figure it out :/

I'm having trouble discerning the dark colored one on the black background. I would use some white foam core or even try a different background or some seamless paper.

I shoot pistols, rifles and fire Canon's for fun.

All hail the red L.
