I got together early this morning with this lovely girl to do some portraits.
#1. This is at the Starbucks where we got together, right by a window. I chose the outfit from the ones she brought to match the earth tones I would get shooting wide open. Only light was window light to camera right.
#2. This was under under a 635 overpass, next to a park. I liked the leading lines and the vegetation growing under the overpass, which I used as background. Because this was obviously in the shade, I added an SB800 portable flash mounted on a light stand with a shoot thru umbrella to add directional light and catchlights. The light kissing her on her neck and left arm is actually ambient light coming from the right side of the overpass. That rim light is what I like most about this photograph. I wish I had noticed the litte folding of the dress over her right breast, as I will have to fix it postprocessing.
