Portfolio Build - First newborn (*updated with more photos) - 09-27-2010, 08:00 PM

We start the next journey in portraits, newborns! This photoshoot is the first of four within the next three months to help build our newborn portfolio.

Michelle, my wife, is super excited about growing this part of the business. She is a member of the Mothers Of Young Children (MOYC). It's a group within our church at St. Ignatius Loyola and could be a wonderful source for models. One of her friends from the group, Amy LeBlanc, volunteered her nine day old baby girl Sophia. Sophia makes number six for the LeBlanc family. Amy was awesome. She pretty much gave of the freedom to try any ideas we had in mind.

The shoot was this past Sunday afternoon at Amy's home. The whole shoot lasted three hours. Needless to say we had a blast. I dumped my card last night and wanted to process one photo for Amy and to she with you guys/gals. She was so excited I think she asked us once an hour when the photos would be reay.

I am looking for C&C pretty please. Thanks for looking.

Okay Sonny....I'm gonna hit this one hard....I know you can take it... ;-)

Love the angle....

But what is that black thing she's laying in?? Finding stuff to lay babies in is a ridiculous amount of fun.... try baskets/platters.... but unless there's something coordinating in the clothing/background... I would avoid black... ;-)

Just a personal pref of course...

Hands in front of face... if the shot was closer up, so I could see detail... I'd like it more...but this far back... wrap the hands in the cocoon thing... so that you just see her adorable little face...

Is the line on her face a scratch or is it just a red mark from laying on something? photoshop/portraiture it out...

Babies are a blast.....I can't wait to see more!

Hahaha, Donna, that's pretty much exactly what I told him.

Also, just a tip. When posing sleeping babies, move there hands where you want them, and hold there for 30 seconds to a minute. They may flinch and tense up, but once they settle down again, usually they will stay where you put them.

Images aren't showing up - looks like the hyperlink left out the _LeBlanc part... (based on the email that I saw before coming here on this app for Tpf whose name I can't recall!) ;-)

I like 1, 3 and 7. The feet in 4 are always cute, but I like both feet in focus.

Nice work.

What would 6 look like if all the grass was burned out and it was just baby-and-mirror?

My wife said she found it at Walmart in their 'Home Decor' section.
