Suki (from TPF) and Family - 11-19-2010, 06:45 AM

Suki is a TPF member. She's moving out of the country and wanted something kind of "Texas" style for her family session. I warned her ahead of time that I'm new at shooting families and know nothing about posing, lol.

Great family photos. I love the emotion with them all.

They seem like one Happy Family.

You also caught the kiddo's emotion at great times ... some of them he wasn't as cooperative, I see, but they still work.

Love your DOF and comp. in all of the photos.

Did you do much post, aside from a bit of color, levels and the B&W?

Haha, Kristina, thanks!

Thanks a ton, Raymond! Actually, not a lot of post processing. I did all the editing in LR. The ones where they look a little more processed just had a preset used on them. So, basically most were just white balance and the basics and b and w conversion via LR. I did these this morning. Took about an hour at the very most.

Dont know if its my monitor at work or if the uploading did something, but in a couple of those the ladies red jacket looks as if you puched the saturation too far and its blown. Other than that I like most of them. Not a big fan of the ones where they are sitting on the bridge, not sure why, they just dont stand out like the rest of them do. Maybe its the composition?

Cool ... photoshoot for a member.

Yes, indeed your family looks great and you can see the happy blessings in your emotions, SukYee.

I also like the locations you guys choose. Looks like the StockYards in Fort Worth.

I've just learned a lesson.
It's more important to understand emotion and people than to worry about posing.
Luv them.

This ^^

Also I must add, these are REALLY great. Photos like these are what I strive for when shooting family stuff. Really great stuff man...

Most look like natural light, OCF for the last two and possible 1 & 3. If you don't mind sharing the lightning setup please do, these rock! :)

Few things say "Texas" like the Stockyards. Great use of the location.
