This is a discussion on Simple video of latest senior pics within the People forums, part of the Showcase category; Here's a video I tossed together using ProShow Gold. Nothing fancy, just something to give the senior a preview of ...
Kevin, nice work. I especially like your work in Photoshop where you layered in her name in a couple of the shots. The only thing I think you're missing is a the business name at the end of the video. She'll show it to all of her friends, why not get the advertising....
Very nice song selection. I'm going to go out on a limb and say her name is Sarah, lol, just kidding. In the beginning I thought the song was a little goofy, but as it continued and I listened to the lyrics and watched the pictures, it all came together. Nice pictures, really nice video. Great work!!

Yeah, true story. Good idea. Didn't even notice it. Good idea.
Not to get off topic, but do you have copyright issues using the Hall & Oates song. (I recall that song was written about the sister of one of them.)
During my videography days we called them Sync licenses (fees). There are legalities behind this, but I'm not the expert. I've tried to get a license for this, but the recording artist is more interested in the big boys. In some cases, I've heard of photographers purchasing the CD recording and deliver both CD and slideshow DVD to the customer.
I found it better to purchase loops and create your own.

Good video though.
I too am curious about usage rights because I really like working with existing songs that are especially suited to the person, shots, or situation. I didn't give any DVD to the client, just posted on YouTube for her to preview a few of her images. YouTube sent me some kind of notice but said I didn't need to do anything, but I did go back and include copyright credit for the artist and label in my YouTube description. ? ? ?

An easier scenerio to grasp.... What happens if a band is playing at a concert and they are using your photo images without permission, or they have a slideshow with their music sync'd with your images. (leave that for thought)
Sync licenses also applies to personal use, however I know many people do this. This is why some folks deliver a separate music CD and the slideshow DVD's. It's not actually sync'd. Once its produced as a single product, it's sync'd.
Unless your are producing to a large quantities, it's not likely you going to get the producer or artist to recognize you and approve a license....I've already tried many times.
I know there are exceptions/loop holes, but I'm not an attorney.
A buddy of mine put his video of parachuting with the music "Jump" on YouTube...they pulled it and told him it was illegal use of the video, so
I guess, you are only breaking the rules if you get caught...right?

Change a couple of words on that and, then think about it.
