My faves of 2010 - 12-20-2010, 05:13 PM

It's been an amazingly fun year starting to learn photography, beginning with receiving my first DSLR for Christmas last year. Thought I would share my faves from 2010 (and one from Dec. 2009). Many of these are not technically perfect, but they are the ones that bring me the most joy. C&C is always welcome and appreciated.

Dec. 2009 (this is SOOC, before I learned about the joys of editing!)

Jan. (VERY out of focus, but hey I'd only had it for a week!) One of my favorite photos of my son - he loves all things firefighter-related.

February

March

April - my first (and only) wedding - a gift for a friend

May

June (one of my first newborns)

July - my first (and only, so far) twins

August

September - this was taken while my kiddos were dancing in delight to Daddy's guitar playing - a beautiful memory.

October

November

December (this one was shot for a local magazine, leaving room at the top for headlines, and I just haven't cropped it yet)

Wonderful shots! You have done fabulously in a short time... The guitar shot and the girl with the red hat are outstanding. Tri

I agree with Tri; however, the eyes in your December shot look way overdone IMO (like Underworld eyes.)

Thank you, Anna-Karin, Tri and David for your replies. Tri, I've really enjoyed seeing your images over the past year, I appreciate the compliment!

David - I can see that. The interesting thing is that the only thing I did to the eyes was sharpen them, but I may have been a bit heavy-handed. I did give the whole image a slightly warm tone and I color popped the hat and shirt a bit but his eyes didn't need it - they were very, very blue, and I didn't do anything to the whites. :)

I know what you mean sharpening gets out of hand quickly (especially the irises - they're one of the quickest giveaways of retouching).

Amanda,

You are very welcome and appreciate your comment as well. You have the gift of vision and chemistry with your subjects, keep on shooting and making people happy. IMHO, photos do not have to be technically perfect to be cherished... Have a great Christmas.

I agree you can see your skill level jump up through the months.

All of your shots look great. Keep it up for 2011.
