Kara - if the hair flyaways are fairly easy, meaning the background is simple and even and there's not masses of hair flying everywhere, I just use the clone stamp tool at 100% opacity (mode varies depending on the background and hair color) to erase away the hairs. But I am FAR from an expert at those kind of PS maneuvers, so for this image I cheated. :) I sent it to retouchup.com and they did the hair. When you sign up for a new account you get the first 10 images retouched for free. Once you're past that, it's $2.50 per image for a complete facial retouch and hair flyaways, background cleanup, etc. $5 for the previous items plus things like glass glare, removal of braces. Can't beat it. And if it's a change the client requests, like braces, or making arms skinnier (yep, I've had that one!), that can't be fixed in camera, I'll bill them an extra design fee that more than covers my cost. Also, I'll only send images to retouchup.com that the client is purchasing. I MIGHT do one to show them the difference that cleaning up the flyaways can make, but I always to all my own color correcting and facial editing anyway. |
