Hanging out on a farm... - 02-21-2011, 10:47 PM

We made a trip to my parents this weekend....it'd been several years since Brad had seen them....and I hadn't been since June of last year...between Tori's sports and Brad's deployment, it'd been too long.

I took my gear and got a few good photos that I am gonna send back home to them...

Sarah and Grandma... they have several farm vehicles (four wheelers, kubota, etc) and Sarah had a blast getting to ride around all of them... and seeing LOTS of cows!

My parents have about 100+ head of cattle right now... which meant lots of calves....which Sarah loved seeing...

Tori & Sarah... Sarah wanted to go swimming...we explained it was cold... Tori said 'I'll get in with her'... so we let them... thinking 'oh, it'll be cold, and they'll get RIGHT out'... we didn't take Sarah's genetics into consideration... she LOVED the cold water.. we finally made her get out...

Grandma took Tori for a spin on her Spyder motorcycle.. they made a trip to visit Tori's dad & her dad's parents who live about half an hour away... they got back and Tori was asking to drive the Spyder... I'm just glad it requires a license... I was able to say 'no'!

My favorite from the weekend... this is my dad... he's 74 years old... he had a stroke last year... which I didn't notice any evidence of until I was editing this photo and saw the left eye drooping a bit...

Well your Dad is very fortunate. My father has very little use of his left side and can barely walk a year and a half after his stroke.

Nice shots!

Thanks!

And yes - he's very lucky. My mom is a former er nurse so he had very quick treatment which apparently helped. He's the only one still alive of all his brothers and sisters...

Great shots, Donna! That last one is an excellent portrait of your father. I'm sure your parents will love the photos.

Donna these are great, but the one of your dad is perfect, Composition, and the B&W processing is over the top.

Very nice series Donna. Your post reminds me that I need to get back to Louisiana. Though my grandparents are no longer living, I have lots of aunts, uncles and cousins that I haven't visited in quite a while (like I may need to take name tag stickers when I go).

Love the shot of your dad. He looks like one of the many men who show up at my uncle's barn to drink coffee and discuss what's happening in the parish. Oh the memories!
