Hey all, thought I'd post some of these that I shot a couple of weeks ago in Galveston. First time shooting out there, and I had a great time. I want to go back.

Thanks for looking.

1 & 2 i find a bit odd, especially the color. Makes galveston look even murkier and nastier than it really is.

#3 is much better in that respect and I like the pose better on this one. Good composition, too.

5 & 6..... HAWT! It's like a totally different girl. Smokin.

8. Cute. I like her styling and expression.

4,5,6 I really like

7, I really like the colors but the pose is off... sorry I am not help as to what it should be but personal opinion something feels off.

1,3,8 I think you did a good job capturing how beautiful her eyes are. (8 I wish the smile was slightly better, it looks like she is about to say something)

4-7 are fantastic, great use of ambient light and the environment to make the images more interesting. Thanks for sharing!

I like the urban ones as well. 2 nits on #7, Looking into her pit is not that flattering and the lighting on her legs overpowers that on her face. Pretty place to pose her though. Shop out the cord in the window.

Her eyes look a bit overcooked in #4. Are you using Portrait professional by any chance?

All in all a nice set.

Thanks for the comments and crits guys. I appreciate you taking the time.
Andrew: Yeah man, on the beach I was actually using the White BD and the 1600/Vagabond. First time trying it on outdoor stuff.
The others were just either direct 580 or a shoo-through and a 580.

Mark, I agree, I did over-do the eyes on a few I actually use Portraiture, but reduce the opacity and use a layer mask to brush it in where I want it. For the eyes I've been using this action called Coffee Shop Eye Bright or something and it tends to really nuke the eyes if you don't reduce the opacity on that layer. I need to re-work them.

Dennis: Yeah, I actually posted a similar photo of the Brown Galveston photo with a cooler White balance and someone made it look better by cooling down the beach but keeping her warm. But I never did fix it on this photo.
On #1 some complained that it looks fake because the BG is so underexposed, and I agree. I need to work on balancing that better. It was just so hard to see what the exposure was like on the LCD because the sun was full blast that day.

Again, I appreciate the comments y'all. Thread's still open so feel free to contribute what's on your mind :)

Stunning! #4 seems to jump out at me the most. The blue of her eyes and dress with the green of the shutters. Love it. All are very impressive! She's not to shabby either!

Sorry for the hijack Sam, but Abel, I can appreciate the reason behind the rule, but it is also helpful to hear if the body of work is on target. Sometimes one is less concerned with having members critique specific aspects of individual photos, but instead would like some feedback on the feel of the entire series, what's working and what's not. That can be very very helpful and ultimately better the community too. I agree, commenting on technical aspects for many images can get overwhelming. 3 is plenty for that, but I wish you would consider the benefit not only the poster, but the viewer and commenter gets out of these threads too. I can't speak for Sam, but I know this thread has been helpful for me. I hope we can come up with a solution that would benefit us all.

Thoughts?
