This photoshoot was my most difficult to date. It took place at the Mercer Arboretum. Not only was I battling the crowds but the heat and the 3pm sunlight.

Great shots. I really like them.

I've shot there before in the same lighting conditions, how do you deal with the harsh shadows? I'm still new at this, but I think its with the use of an external flash??

Sonny, looks like you beat the elements. Nice work, I Love her soft complexion.

Nice images under difficult conditions. I like the last one best.

How exactly did you light these? It seems that there is an off-camera flash slightly higher than eye level...You're shooting at 1/500 or so, so I assume this is high speed sync triggered with a sync cable or Radio Popper?

I like the shallow depth of field in all of them. good off camera flash technique in a challanging lighting condition

I tried to keep the sun at her back and used a 580ex with a Sto-Fen as fill.

Yeah, I still don't know how I achieved that effect. When I have some more time, I'll go back and study the EXIF data and flash placement. But just in case anyone in wondering...that is the real background.

For this shoot I used two 580ex Speedlights with Radio Poppers 180 degrees from one another.

Poor flash placement creating a harsh shadow on her nose. I tried to dodge/burn the shadow away but I made it worse so I left it alone.
