Here are a few from last night. I set up a Single light and just had some fun. I wanted to practice a bit and I know i need more work.

I can see she's having fun! I think color would have matched the childish, happy, carefree style and mood of the images, perhaps better than black and white?

When I photography my kids, even if it's just for fun, I try to work with them to reduce the impact of big patterns on shirts - sometimes I just tell them to wear them backwards! It is hard for the eyes not to go to those figures on shirts.

From a lighting point of view I think your light needs to be higher and your subject should be more separated from the background if possible.

These are fun shots, and the important thing is that she enjoyed herself and was part of creating these memories. The technical aspects are not as important as the bonding that takes place when you create together.
