Brag shot

Grandson Colby from a few weeks ago. Interior, no flash, mostly natural+ some distant overhead tungsten. Canon 50d, 50/1.4, AP@1.4, iirc 1600iso; slight histogram boost in PSP. Little bright on the forehead and f1.4 makes for some DoF issues and noise reduction softened things a smidge; but prints (4x6, 5x7) look fine.....

Ideas on changes for next time? I intend to practice a lot....;)

Next time, just bounce some flash off a preferably white wall behind you. It will probably give you flat lighting, but it will fill in the shadows. Turn off the tungsten unless you plan on converting to B&W. Or just move him to a window and use natural light.

One more suggestion: Get down on his level or barely above him. Doing so will make the shot more intimate.

Thanx folks. John, I have a bunch from the series where I did get down lower, but this one just worked better than those. Unfortunately there are no white walls to bounce here but the ceiling altho sloped is still white. I will give it a try. Thanx again.
