to me it's overcooked... too much blown out to white, too much leading the eye away from the main subject. The overblown desk area is particularly distracting. I'd dial down the shirt some, and the desk even more. I love the composition of the shot itself though.

the candid of him was a good start. The processing seems like way too much for this great shot. Tonemapping is way over the top. Tone done the white points and lose the vignette. Something simple in BW would have made him look boss.
