How much P/P did you do and what did you do?
It looks like you went too much on parts of her skin and eyes, I also think her look does not look natural.....she looks scared, what kind of look were you going for?

later....

That was pretty constructive I thought. It looks like you went overboard with post processing. Other than that, lighting is good.

Eldon,
I think that by toning down the eyes everything else will fall into place.
Try that and let's see what happens.

skin on her face looks pretty blotchy, I would lose the color contacts and if she wants different colored eyes, learn how to do it in post. The whites of the eyes are over processed as well. As far as her looking scared/afraid, one of my first thoughts when seeing this was fear, so on that count you got what you were looking for.

Not being mean here, just pointing something out to you. This ^ is how you ensure that you wont get many, if any CC's in the future.

I'm hoping to give a little CC on giving and receiving CC here. Sorry for the thread hijack, but it seems like a good thread to learn not only about the photo posted, but also about CC.

Some of the CC comments here are excellent and helpful whether positive or negative (tone down eyes, lighting is good, blotchy skin, etc.).

True. In my opinion, the OP is pointing out the lack of any positive comments and by doing so is stepping on CC rules:
4. Be Open
Have an open mind when receiving critiques from members. ... You don't have to take their advice but at least listen to it, consider it and appreciate it.
However, I do understand the OP's comment, because the initial and a few other folks leaving comments didn't follow one of the CC rules - a very important one in my opinion.
4. Tell The Photographer What You Do Like
Take a minute to cite to the original posting photographer what you do like about the photograph right out of the box. This positive reinforcement will inform the photographer the aspects that they are doing right in your mind. This is a major help in becoming better because the photographer will be made aware of what he/she is already doing well.
I almost wish Abel would put this one first and add that if you can't say something positive up front about what you do like, then move on and don't leave CC.

Things that I see on this photo as positive:
Model has beautiful hair and it is well lit.
Beautiful contrast between the dark dress and red cloak/lipstick.
Well balanced composition.
...

I hope this helps and isn't taken in the wrong way. I would just like to see us all learn to do CC a bit better. I'm sure I can learn something as well.

Shutterfire: If you would like, I will remove this.

Patti

Rob, You are correct. Bad choice of words on my part. They are guidelines and are found here.

there are really only two ways one should reply to a CC and they are "thank you" and to answer any questions that may have been asked for clarification purposes. Rebutting in anyway is counter productive and will push other potential CC'ers away very quickly

To OP:
It looks like the model is in fashion/fantasy wardrobe. I don't understand why you would want a frightened look on the model's face. The crop is too close for any context of why she would be afraid, and so it comes across as very strange, like this was a shot between expression changes or while she as talking.

At any rate, the choice of expression is baffling and isn't really flattering to the model. Maybe you could explain a little more about what you were trying to accomplish?

Thanks for all of the replies. I know that the look is a bit baffling and I will post the entire series and should clarify what I was going for. I do take all of your replies seriously. I was simply pointing out that just straight criticism without pointing out what is good about the photo keeps people from posting as well and counter productive to the intent of the forum.

Patty, I totally agree please dont remove your post!

I appreciate the suggestions for improvement. I disagree as mentioned in the post that there are only two ways to respond. I know several photogs that are members here that refuse to post anything and they have some really great stuff. It is unfortunate that they feel that way.

I give a lot of weight to those photogs that point out good and bad. Those comments really go a lot farther without sounding condescending to the person who is posting.

my point was that one shouldnt argue with people that are taking the time to give what has been asked for, thats all.

I wasn't arguing with the opinion. I was simply making a point. That if there is not anything constructive it just doesn't carry the same merit.
