Photoshoot with a car and models - 10-08-2011, 03:25 AM

Critique: CC:

Okay I didn't know where to post this ... so I am posting it in the People forum and in the car section ...

I wanted to get some opinion about how I went about with these from both Car photographers and people photographers.

I haven't done a photoshoot with a car and model ... so this was a good test to see what things I would run into.

I realized I ran into some issue, but what else would you recommend in me working on these. thanks.

Always, room for improvement. :)

By the way, I wrote a story on my photo venture IF YOU CLICKY HERE

Hey Ray,
First off, I always enjoy seeing your work, you have a good eye and your photos always pop. On this one I just could not get the connection from the models that have FF gear on and the street import car. I think that #2 is by far the best shot. # 1 and 2, it seems that the left side of the shots are over exposed. More so on #1.

Thanks Holland. I do believe I have gotten better, but yes still plenty of room to grow.

I definitely see the exposure a bit on the high end. Thanks.

When I was processing it in Lightroom and Photoshop and I did try to tone it down a bit, but most of it was too far to fix.

Thanks for the time to critique. Things to look at for my next shoot.

I can tell you put a lot of thought and work on this shoot. I applaude your working with more than one model, shooting with strobes on location and using props to do some story telling. What i would sugest for next time is work on the story some more, car on fire, or at least fake smoke coming from the hood, warmer light, other details to make "come together" - also, there is quite of bit of light on the set, e.g. the third one. Pics are nice and you can make them better.

Mm what is the correlation of the firesuits and the car? The images are a tad too bright for my tastes but lighting that scene at night is not easy. I would have yanked the front plate from the windshield as well.

Thanks guys.

Paco ... definitely learned alot from this shoot to better pre-plan my next photo opt.
I was also debating on creating a "fire" situation ... but during pre-planning with the owner of the car, I felt it wouldn't be executed without looking to gimmicky.

John, the correlation of the suits to the car ... the suits belong to the guys that created the car. 2 volunteer firemen who created the car with their firestation in mind. 343, is their volunteer group name.
Yeah, we actually started around 5pm, but did really take into account how long it would take to do hair and makeup. Another thing I've learned. Time-management with an MUA and hairstylist.
For my next car shoot, I will remember to take out the license plate.

Thanks again guys for the suggestions and the helpful critiques.
