I would have preferred to see the focus points reversed.

I like the idea, although I too would rather see the model in focus rather than the shoes (unless you're trying to sell the shoes with this series).

In either case, the composition puts the main focal point way too close to the edges for my taste. With the model on the same side as the shoes, and the angle of her body - not very flattering; she has one huge leg and one little one and she is overall very compacted - sort of pointing at the corner, the whole image is super heavily weighted toward the lower right corner and leads the eyes right out of the frame.

The table is cut off a little awkwardly as well. Part of the reason the shoes don't show up well is because you are setting light colored shoes against light pink and light yellow. All light colors and a busy mix of them doesn't give you much contrast.

I'd work on balancing your visual points of interest - model and shoes - in the frame, and making the model look long and slender and sexy, like the high heels. They will compliment each other. If the focus is to stay on the shoes, then position them in front of a subtler, darker background. The pink couch might not work.

EDIT: You just posted a second one. I like this better, although the model still looks very wide and compact. She is pretty, and needs a much more flattering posture and angle. If you want to show the shoes as well, use a narrower aperture like f11 to get more of the scene in focus.

Don't like the pose, i.e. looking up the dress, and scooped out look at the arm pit/breast area. Don't get me wrong, a provocative pose and outfit are fine, but this pose doesn't quite work for me. Pretty woman and nice color pallette.

In focus or out of focus, I am not sure what the purpose of the shoes is.

Shoes in focus does not work for any type of commercial shot because the shoes are not arranged correctly.

Shoes out of focus; it is difficult to tell what they are, and they do not add anything.

Wow, great model, dress and setting - I also like the lighting and color palette. And I like the fact the image is trying to tell a story.

I like the idea of two components in visual story telling, with one dominant and the other subordinate or in a support role. In this case, however, it's not clear what the story is - or there isn't a lot of interesting ambiguity. I can see what the images is "of" - it's an image of a reclining woman looking at a pair of shoes. But what is the image about? is it about desire? or is it about tiredness after a day shopping? Or remorse for buying shoes that are too expensive? Hard to tell, hence hard to connect with the image.

At any rate, I'd prefer the object that's dominant in the story, I assume the shoes, to be in focus - in the second image the shoes are to blurred to be noticed, IMHO.
