Sand & Sea Part 1 - 10-12-2011, 12:39 PM

Critique: NC:

Had four family mini sessions in Galveston in mid-September - yup, the weekend it poured down rain! We managed to squeeze them all in amidst passing storms. Here are my favorites from one of the sessions - will get some up from the other sessions in another post.

I marked this thread NC to post more than 3 images, but I love hearing comments and feedback, so please post away!

Looks like you made the best of an overcast day at the beach -- great colors and reflections in the first three really add some nice dimension.

Those are really nice. I bet the family was very pleased. I like all the angles and details you captured. The one of the little boy being squeezed and kissed by his parents is adorable!

Thanks for the comments, Brett, Charrie and Mark. I was definitely sweating it with the weather (but feeling bad since we need the rain so much) but I was pleased with the results (as were the clients).

I heard recently that great photos convey something rather than simply record something. These images are a superb example of that reasoning. I get the sense of a curious and happy child that belongs to happy and loving family.

I would be happy to make or recieve images like those. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Bryan, it would be an honor to have you steal ideas. :) At least I didn't get a "Fantastic!"

Gary, I think your comment is the best compliment I've received since beginning this journey with photography. It made me a little misty-eyed. :)

ha! I was chided for not having positive enough feedback. If everyone posted images like you, there would be nothing but positive feedback

P.S. Your post made me laugh out loud which got me in trouble with my wife - I told her I was going to edit photos....doh!
