I like the lighting in these. My nit pick that always bothers me is that her mascara is very clumpy, and I hate that look. Everyone has different opinions on catch lights and some people feel like they must be in a certain spot (yes, because there is only one right way in photography). Personally, I'm not a fan of the two catch lights in the first two photos, I'd prefer just the one on the left. On the third photo, they start to blend into one catch light, so it doesn't bother me.

If this is your first attempt at the "pro" look, I think you did a great job!

Sharp Eyes.

Only thing I would have liked to see is a change in her facial expression. Very pretty smile, but some variety with her facial expressions would be nice.

Very nice photos.

The eyes look a bit unnatural to me due to the postprocessing.

Actually I did not process the eyes, I softened the skin just a tad, but those are her eyes. I appreciate all the comments.

As far as the catch lights, I see your point...I have been thinking about trying a beauty dish. Will post more soon. Thanks!

No postprocessing at all to the eyes? Nothing?

I think what is causing the illusion then for me is the thick eyeliner contrasted against the whites of her eyes. It gives the illusion of eyeball whitening. Great job on your part. Nice, sharp and well-lit.

Thanks Brad, Nothing on the eyes with the exception of unsharp mask to the whole picture. I love my new 24-70! I agree, the clumping is annoying....these were the later shots in the series...the first ones had some strange streaking in her foundation and I had to get her to clean all of it off.

To me it's not the clumping of the mascara that does it but the eyeliner itself creating an extreme and perfect line of contrast between the edge of the lid and the whites of the eye.

I'm not trying to sound lnegative and focus on that.. just clarifying what I meant. You definitely did your part here!

It looks to me that your lighting is behind you and I see your silhouette in her eyes.
