Critique: NC:

I think I had stopped visiting right around the time of the name change. I've been spending my time on various photography related Facebook groups, instead of here, but I miss you guys:)

I don't want to jump in and ask for CC on anything, since I've been gone so long, but I thought I'd at least share some of what I've been up to. If anyone has questions, do feel free to ask. I like to try to help others, if I am able. Thanks!

Handheld @ 1/25 sec at f/2.2, ISO 100 135MM
Gridded beauty dish camera left for key. Bare speed light behind the railing for back light. I chose this particular spot to give me the tree branch patterned shadows from existing ambient street lights, and to use the lit tree across the bayou as a separation light.

1/100 sec at f/4.0, ISO 100 135mm Incand WB (to make the background cooler). Speed light, raised very high and bounced off of the ceiling between tree and subject. Speed light with 1/2 CTO, bounced into a gold reflector inside the box for key. Fill flash to CR, diffused into a Lumiquest LTP.

Lighting setup: I wanted to mimic sunlight through a window. Strobe is outside the studio, in a silver reflector. A white bed sheet from Wall Mart was gaff-taped on top of window. Silver reflector up high on the left to fill only Brandy's face. White foam core, sitting below the reflector to fill in her white shirt. No ambient light contributed to the exposure. 1/200 sec at f / 2.0 ISO 100 at 50mm

Single strobe in a reflector on left.

Single beauty dish on left. My wife and hair stylist were tossing fabric in the air for each shot.

I shot this with my 135mm prime and the rim lights are pointed down toward my model at minimum power, so most of the direct light is outside my "family of angles". The little flare you see was added in post. I used a gridded beauty dish for key. I think it was high and as close to the model that I could get, without it being in my frame. 1/200 at f/13, ISO 100 135mm

Really cool shots. Looks like you have spent your time well.

Thanks for sharing how you did them too! Great catch on that first one to get the shadows from the trees like that.
