Your lighting looks really good in both. The first is a great headshot. NIcely done.

Thanks Keith. 1. is just a little ol' flash through an umbrella with a reflector underneath her and a another camera upper right to throw some light into her hair. f8, 1/200, @iso100. 2. is the same strobe (no diffuser) off-camera right. f2.5, 1/50, @iso400.

Very warm and lovely smile on both, this girl seems quite comfortable in front of your camera! I prefer the first one because it's simpler. On the second one I can see the flash, mostly because of the temperature delta with respect to the background. A gel would help, I think. Also, the tilt on the rail is a minor distraction.

I bet she's happy with the images!

Thanks Paco, she'll really be glad to hear that. It was actually quite the opposite. She continually said she was very uncomfortable having her picture made, but she wanted something to use on an online site to help her meet people. She's a fun person, but she struggled a bit at the beginning of the session. Ultimately she was a good sport and yes, we felt like we came away with some good shots. Thanks for the comment about the flash on #2. Yes, I see what you mean. Another learning opportunity for me.
