I photographed Ray today - he's an aspiring actor and wanted some headshots. He pretty much left it up to me, so I tried to give him something that would look different from typical headshots. I ended up liking these two ideas, one more dramatic and other lighter yet masculine.
Equipment: E640 strobe on a gridded 32x48 Photoflex softbox on a boom, to camera right (first image) and center (second image) - medium Photoflex softbox with a grid as weak cross rim light to camera left. I also used a semicircular reflector under his chest on the second image to get the semicircular catchlights. White background unlit on the first image, but lit on the second.
The second image is a version with some facial post-processing, he'll get also the one with little or no changes to his face.
