The washed out look of these isn't working for me. The second shot is the most interesting IMHO and I would have explored the juxtaposition of her blue eyes and clothing with her red hair.

Yeah...I was trying to get around the extreme acne, uneven makeup, and trying to work with her lazy eye. Thanks for the tip about the juxtaposition. I took out the last picture...because the longer I looked at it....the more I disliked it. Do these look better? Used different PP.

From a portfolio standpoint, I would walk away from this set as presented. Perhaps something else may work better. Good luck.

The angle or perhaps your distance from the model makes her nose too big to me.

Would you mind showing us a SOOC image so we can possibly offer a little more specific advice? These are very heavily processed, and thus hard to tell what your starting point was.

Agreed. If this is the strongest you have to date then you go with it. It is what it is.

This is where the "only 3" rule proves problematic. In this case, you're trying to build a portfolio and need help. Being told these three just don't quite cut it hasn't really helped you do that. If you were able to show a wider range of shots perhaps myself and others could explain which ones work better and why, thus giving you the help you seek. Often seeing a series reveals your thought process behind the shoot, what you're doing wrong, or right in certain shots. If you were to post several more from this shoot as "NC" (as per forum rules) with a request, not of critical comments specific to the image, but rather to help you find where the strength of your work lies, I and hopefully others would be happy to help.

Something I though about today. It seems that the images are dull and less vibrant than what I see with my own eyes. This is an older manual lens, and the UV filter is just as old. Is there a possibility that the filter is causing the fogginess? Also.....I need a better lighting system....lol.

Okay, here they are SOOC.

To be honest with you....I only got a few good images. This was a 30 min TF. She had no experience....and I have no "experience". There isn't much else to show. I could post more and put the thread as "NC", if you think it will help, I only have maybe three more images to add.

Thanks guys!

Have you looked at the lens itself to see if there is moisture or fungus in it? Also, try taking the filter off, holding it up to the light and see if it looks foggy (or try some comparative shots with the filter on vs. off).

Some of the images are soft, lacking contrast I think. And I won't quit my day job, but here is about 10 minutes on one of the softer images. I wish she'd also varied her smile between them. The retouching below isn't necessarily what I'd want, but I think a softer image helps as they aren't tack sharp on the eyes. It isn't necessarily what you saw, but is a variation.

Audrey, I did....and it was the filter as I thought.

To be honest Andy...you confused me. It's probably the fact that I am tired as hell and can't concentrate...but....I did what I think you were saying

The softness is good for parts of the image. However, it kills the look of the eyes. Attempt number ∞ ....lol
