You know, ever since my wife started posting again, she's signed in on every computer in the house...

I normally post in the wedding forum, but I'm expanding into portraits, so I guess this is the right place
Photographed an some friends with my buddy and fellow TPFer Ronster yesterday. Great couple with an obvious music interest (wonder what might give it away) and no hesitation to be in front of a camera. She's not one for "normal" as the theme, so I experimented a bit, in both the poses and post-processing. We did the standard shots too, but I felt like doing something different this time out. Let me know what you think...

Great shots! I think I really like them all. Perhaps improved a little if she smiled some more. Can you briefly describe some of the actions used on each shot?

I do have plenty of her smiling, and she does have a beautiful smile, but I felt her eyes really stand out when she didn't smile...thus the reason that I used those shots...

As for the actions...don't know if brief could be possible, but I'll try. I used various filters from Virtual Photographer, Multiple layers, Noiseware and a frame action. Many of the shots I used multiple layers with different actions/filters, then adjusted the opacity to suit the shot. Also used a layer to darken the edges of the shots. I believe that only two of the shots used the same setup, each of the others were done differently using a mix of the filters/actions/layers that I described.

If there is a certain one you would like more information on, it would be easier to explain how I did it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Wow I like all of them. She looks really uncomfortable in #5 though.

Actually, she was quite comfortable...believe it or not, the position he was in was not the most comfortable in the world, and I know because I actually go up there and tried it before asking him to do it...

The thing I like about here expression and pose in this one is that she looks like she is just enjoying the music, but that is just my take on it. Appreciate the feedback though.

Really good stuff Will, something I have come to expect from you. Your vision is among the best out there and your processing is top notch. I like, no I love all but the 2nd to last one but that is just a personal thing with me on the pose and angle.

Truely some of the best shots that show the things true portraits should show, emotion and power within it.

The lines, the angles, the toning all work here. Again some of the best work I have seen posted in some time. Thanks for posting.

Great shots to begin with...but really great post processing! Really love the last one with the double composition.

His girlfriend in the picture is an old friend of mine and they just lost all of their pictures together since their hard drive crashed so I offered to take some images for them and Will tagged along and got to be the creative one and get some great shots that are out of the norm.
Would you liek me to pass anything along to him? If you do please PM off to the side and I can tell you what he's up to these days. I should be seeing him tomorrow night.
