I did another retro/hollywood glamour shoot last week, this time with the talented model Danielle. She was fantastic to work with. I only had to request a turn here or an angle there, she basically just busted out tons of good poses.
Makeup by Jennifer Stanley, my primary MUA. As usual, polite CC&C welcome:
My personal favorite, with the $8 hat I picked up in downtown McKinney lol:
Thanks

HI guys, thank you very much for the compliments.
Everything in these was set up for this style of shoot from the get-go, including colors, makeup, obviously the lighting setups, one of which was a setup I created on my own that I haven't seen anywhere else, pretty much everything was done knowing these would become B/W shots in the end.
I also did very little retouching here; these were almost "straight out of the camera." Just some minor skin touchup, very little, and zero skin smoothing.
Thanks again | | | |

Thanks again | I'd like to hear more about your setup if you don't mind. I have been interested in this kind of work and love your results | | | |

I also make sure I understand lighting ratios, how to calculate the additive nature of light etc. I'm always looking at new concepts, setups etc and am starting to try my own (well, I'm sure someone out there has done just about every lighting setup there is, but when I say 'my own' I mean ones I haven't seen before.). the lighting in #3 for example was my own concoction.
There were 4 lights in the first setups, and three in the last one. when I get a chance I'll draw up a diagram, probably tomorrow night. And the thing is, we only shot for about 45min total. That's all we had, because the MUA was about an hour late, plus I put Danielle to work helping me setup my backdrop and such! lol. She was very sweet btw and quite a pleasure to work with.

Sorry guys I didn't get a chance to do up the lighting for these tonight - I had some photos and some web site development to do... soon though. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
