Rough Album Layouts - Wedding 06-04-2005 - 06-08-2005, 08:41 AM

Let me know what you think please, all comments are welcomed both good and bad. These are rough album layouts at this time to be fine tuned by myself and the client. It will be a 10x10 wedding album and your looking at double (20x10) and a total of 30 pages or 15 double layouts when finished. I am in the process of developing the cover image/page, reception and formal pages now which should have it completed by the weekend, at least I hope so we have two weddings this weekend and I am already falling behind.

Wow- those are great - I can't even pick a favorite. Seeing your work really inspires me (not to sound cheesy) to push myself, my business, and my checkbook more than I probably should!! :)

Oh - and it looks like I'll get a hold of a nice monitor for the bridal extravaganza - unfortunately - I was looking forward to sitting down with you and your album software.

Thanks for sharing - and helping :)

Mike, first of all, these are great, what program or company do you use to create these?

I like the layout but why does the Bridal page have a black background and all the others have a faded image? that would be about the only thing I would change.
do they get a choice of the images to go in this album or do you just place he best ones?

Thank you both!

On the albums, the clients get the choice of images they want in the album, however the ones I am using are the ones they have picked out from previous sessions. Also I am going to design an album for the business (14x14") so even if the client does not go with some of these set ups I will most likely go with them for the display book.

On the program I use, it is Yervant Page Gallery, http://www.yervant.com.au/ amazing software but pricy (his one day class is $1600.00) but what is so nice about this software is it does 90% of the leg work in the layout designs, opens the layout as a PSD file in PS then allows you to go in and make changes from color corrections, move images around, borders, shadows, etc, all within the PS world. I have other layout programs but they do not work well with PS and I hate saving as a PSD, opening it up in PS then continuing to work on the image. This streamlines the work greatly and makes changes a snap if needed.

On the bridal page, good thinking I had not really paid attention to that before. I will either add a few black backgrounds or change that one.

That is pretty impressive software! But $490? I think I'd rather do it myself. How do you output these? Do you send them to a lab, print them out yourself on inkjet or something like a coffeetable book like mypublisher.com does?

I print them out through my lab and then send them to the binder of choice. A few binders, due to their process, prints and binds them. On the price I agree it took me quite a while to buy the software but it has streamlined my work so much it has been worth it since I will make 5 albums this month alone. Once the images are color corrected I can make a 30 page album from development to output as a PSD and JPG in about 30mins to an hour. The hardest part is figuring out what layout I want out of the 2200 layouts

Plus I dont have the PS Skills you have, I know only what I need to do not everything I want to do!

Shock and Awe

The National Defense University got it wrong...

I'm SHOCKed that you can constantly AWE me with your fantastic photography and design. I'm negotiating my first wedding shoot and hope that I can produce something 1/10th as good as you do.

The newlyweds are going to LOVE this!

Thanks, my only worry is the client might not like these style due to it being very modern. Again it is not a total lose since we are going to use this for display at future bridal shows. We shall see soon what they think. :)

i have been to tri-coast photo's website quite a few times, i love the style and layouts you use. Plus your post-processing is top notch, and is one of my favorite 'looks' for portrait and wedding shots.

Nice job, Mike. They are all wonderful. My favorite page would have to be number 18-19, just because it's different from the others and very well photographed, as all of your work is.

Very beautiful job. On page4-5 would they be too close to the middle seam? Your lab prints all the 20x10's, and then you send them to be bound? Thanks for always answering mine and everyones questions.

Correct, though designed at 14x14" you can always make the album smaller, such as a 10x10, 8x8, 5x5, etc. Figure out what size you ware going to print out, then print out the pictures in full size, once back you cut them in half (saves on shipping costs) or send them full size and let the binder cut them. Remember to design as one page since most labs enlarge your prints 5% or so in the printing process then print and cut so a double layout would not match up if printed indivdually.

Did that answer the needed questions? Oh yeah and the business logo will not be on the prints, except for the cover page, in the final printing.
