Our lastest work - Video SlideShow - 07-04-2005, 10:16 AM

It is a HUGE file so sorry dialup and it will only work on PC's so again sorry MAC users.

Twice a year I create a slideshow like this to give to our possible clients to show them our latest work. This way the clients know what we have been up too and know our style so if they do choose us they know what they are getting. If you have been around this forum for a while you will have seen most of these images, if not all of them since I try and post just about every session. However I thought I would post this link if you all are interested.

http://www.tricoastphoto.com/tricoas...g-summer05.exe

It will ask you to open or save the file just open up and download the large file (around 26 meg) then it will play on its own once finished. This is just a rough draft for an upcoming small little bridal show here in Lake Jackson on the 17th so any ideas on how to change the show for the better please tell me, it is the reason I am posting it.

Thanks in advance as always!

Very very nice Mikey. Hey do you select all the transitions in the slideshow or do you just drop them in and select random?

Both, I select random at first, watch the show, and adjust the ones I do not like from transitions to motion. Easy program only took about 10 mins to make. Took longer to dig out the photos to use and find the music I wanted to use.

By the way Thank you girl! And I am still waiting on you to come and help out on a wedding sometime! And if I have to wait that long, are we still on for the wedding next year?

Mike,
Just beautiful!! The images are outstanding!! I love the first song in the show, however, I'm not so sure about the second one....? Maybe that's just me.
The first song almost brought me to tears though!!

Awesome work! Wish I wasn't so far away from you; I'd love to tag along on one of your weddings!! :D

The first song was but there to catch ya, the second one was there to put a little edge on the show, since I think our work is a little more outthere in many aspects than most. Kinda just goes with me I guess, no other reason! Thanks for the comments, if I moved you that much I think I am on the right path with the show!

Hey MyKey! I tried the trial version of this program and didn't like it too much, it seemed kinda complicated but I think I'm gonna try again. The slideshow is absoultely beautiful. I loved the energy of the 2nd song. And as far as you and I hooking up to shoot, Feb is a long, long, time away. I'm going to call you and see how we can make it happen sooner.

Talk to you soon,

Tawana

Hey Mike,

I guess I'm going to go out on a limb here & say that I didn't care for the video. Let me explain why...

First off, as I've stated before in other posts, your photos are AWESOME!!! I can't say enough good things about them. Fresh, tasteful, romantic, beautiful, and just plain PROFESSIONAL!!!

And that is what leads me to the problem with the video. All those "flashy" transitions are not professional looking. It would be best to use cross fades or cuts only. Maybe the occasional special transition -- but this should be rare.

Besides playing around with photography, I do video work as well. I especially like to do photo montages. You can check out some of my montages here:

http://theburlygroup.com/montages.shtml

I don't have any wedding montages. Probably my sister's anniversary one is the closest thing to compare, and that was the very first montage I ever did.

Hope you are not offended by this, but I really think that your beautiful photos deserve a beautiful presentation. Just my opinion...

HECK NO!!! I am not offended, I want honest feedback, there is no way possible that everyone will like what I do, hince the reason I post things to get feedback.

And when it comes to video/slideshows I HAVE NOT IDEA what I am doing, I am a photographer not a video person. So any help in this area is great! I am a firm beleiver if you like my work or not, be honest, it is one of the best ways to learn and grow. Thank you for the honest response it will help me understand videos a little more.

Several ways actually, you can output it to a certain page and the program writes the HTML for you and you simply insert it into your page. The downside to this way is the view must have the plug in or it wont work. The way I did it was to create an exe disc (towards the right side of the upper menu). When you click on this button it will ask you to save the file somewhere on your computer. Then just upload that file to your server and make a link to it. Simple as that :)

Hey Mike....nice work on the show. I also use this and will be putting several shows up on my site in the next day or so. As for the show itself, I noticed a comment from JBurly and he does make a good point. The danger of the ProShow is that it has SOOOO many transitions to choose from, and many just plain don't work well in a professional presentation. I have found, though, that if you increase the slide and transition time, the actual transitions can look a ton better than with, say, a 2 second default. I am using at least 4, but up to 6 sec transition time in mine now. Also, I try not to use any transition with a hard edge, I prefer the soft edged ones. Anyway, that's my .02...I'll let you know when I get some more up on my site.
