Group Photo Ideas

I have been asked to come up with some ideas for a large group photo shoot. It will be about 55 Concert Band musicians with instruments, and be used as publicity material. Looking for creative compositions, and posing ideas. Nothing too crazy, but any ideas will help. If this is too vague, I can elaborate more. Thanks for any help, and example pictures might be nice so I can show what I am thinking. Thanks alot.

Well, I've only done this with 10-12 at a time, and with 55 they are going t o have to be pretty close together. Get them on stairs (wide in front of a church) or staduim, standing randomly as if chatting, a foot up on the next level here and there, little groups within the group, with instruments.. and without changing their stance have them look at the camera.
Just what came to mind.

How about posing them on the steps of that little outdoor theater on the Riverwalk?
