posing people you don't know can be difficult. It looks to me like they just sat down and struck a pose and you shot with on camera flash.
His pose is straight on to the camera. Suggest an angle. Her pose looks really uncomfortable. She's leaning to her right, and her head is then tilted to vertical. It just looks very unnatural. Probably OK for the church bulletin, but you can do better next time. Study all the good photos you can find. In the old days this was hard, but with the internet you can google "portrait photographers" and get thousands of sites with each photogs best work.

Tom, it was after service and the girl is actually the Pastor's granddaughter and grandma wanted a picture of them before they headed back to Los Angeles, so I wanted to shoot quick and let them get on with some family time. Aaron actually saw the print that night and loved it. He said he never liked the way he looked in all his pics but "that I actually made him look good" then added that I was a great photographer and "that must be a great camera" .

Thanks I do love to study portrait sittings on the internet, I have a lot of sites bookmarked.

You've got to love remarks like that.
I probably would have said " and I loved your sermon, must have been a great microphone !"
