The baby is on a big riser we built that is off the floor, but lower than me. There is a huge soft box to her upper right and a smaller one to her bottom left. Her mom is standing next to me waving a rattle and I was next to her. The baby is actually looking at her mom.

The mom in this one was GREAT! Periodically babies freak out (even happy ones) when they get put down for a photo. This mom panicked at 1st, and I told her we would just wait for the baby to be happy. Don't worry about it...Pick her up and move her around until she's happy.

The mom was crawling around the set talking softly to her and was a HUGE help. The parents make such a huge difference when shooting kids. The ones that encourage their kids usually have much better photos.

At one point I had 2 cameras on me and was waving rattles while I was shooting. Planning and patience man! I just knew I wanted this one to be a close up when we started...I liked the hat. lol.

HOLY COW! Cute is way easier to sell than beautiful.

I sold wall portraits, prints, announcements, and babycakes bags off this session. Ya catching that? Plural! She cried when she saw this shot and bought a ton of stuff. I barely even said anything.

The mom is coming back for a family session tomorrow! YEAH!!!

Oh crap, now there's pressure to do super cute with 3 kids...

lol. Yea right! Im pretty sure I set the bar for cute for the next session way over my head. I'm so screwed. I'll be freaking out all day tomorrow.

Asking the dark, moody, drama queen to pull off cute is like asking Dracula to prance around in fairy wings. Might happen once, but the odds of doing it twice aren't looking too good.
