Nice start. too many images to comment on, but I like #9, it's a nice headshot. Try to avoid to center your focal point in the middle of the frame. Posing is hard with beginner models, and you may want to use some tearsheets to assist the model to pose. Black backgrounds may not best for a model portfolio, try gray and white.

Best luck
Paco

I like 9 also and the last one. The photos say Devine Memories; is that you? Or are the photos of you? I'm a little confused. Are you starting a model portfolio for yourself or a photography portfolio of Models?

The lighting looks good. I would have used a hair light to separate the model more from the black backdrop. Overall the composition is fine. I don't care for the one with the model facing the furniture, thou the smile in it is good, the background is not what I would use. Number 3 looks really natural.

Good luck with your Portfolio.

Robin

Paco and Robin have some very good advice. I would add that I think that these images are a tad soft. Look at the work of some of the great portrait photographers around here and you'll see that the eyes are always tack sharp. Several of the images also look like they could use some skin touch up and smoothing.

Ok, I have a few more minutes and wanted to give you more detailed feedback on a few more images:

#1 - the hand playing with the earrings is distracting, and the tilt of the head a bit unnatural. Expression is flat, cropping of the arm is so so. I'd discard this one.

#2 - beautiful smile, open expression, cropping of the arms bothers me a little, and too centered. Can be cropped into an improved image, I think. It has some glamour and style.

#3 - cliche pose, and expression not as natural as #2, too straight to be a model portfolio image, looks more like a conventional portrait.

37 - pose makes her face fatter than it is, compare with #9

#9 - love how the hair is part of the story here, leading the eyes to her smile and pretty eyes and eyebrows. The tonality that you've chosen works best bere because the background is minimized and the browns are maximized, her skin and hair, and also dress. This headshot can go into her portfolio.

#10 and #11 - toss, background is amateurish and the second expression not appealing

I think #2 and #9 are keepers in my personal opinion.

Good job!

Robin

Robin goodness no this is not me and yes Devine Memories Photography is me. I am trying to build portifolio's of models. I know that I am not quiet where I wnat to be but I am striving to get there. I mostly like outside shoots but I do know that if I am going to make this business grow I will need to learn more about lighting outside as well as inside. Being that is so hot now I want to work on my studio lighting. Thank you so much for your advice and I will take it as a learning tool.

Wes and Paco I want to thank you as well and I am taking notes Paco and when I shoot her again I will use your advice.
