Speaking of bone structure... - 01-27-2009, 06:30 PM

I believe that last night was a new record for me with the highest keeper ratio ever for a headshot session. My goal is to shoot 25 images per outfit which typically ends up being three poses. That should yield one keeper per pose. Well I shot a total of 19 images in the first set and came away with 6 different looks. About three images to get what I wanted. Sometimes one was enough. Chalk it up to a beautiful young lady, excellent makeup, and some luck!

Model: AlysonMarie
MUA: Miranda E.

Nikon D3, Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR
ISO 200, f/8, 1/160 @ 135mm

Comments appreciated as always...

Thanks for all the comments! I'm hoping to do a little glamour work with Alyson in the near future. If you think her face is pretty, just wait until you see the rest of the package!

Smiles are over-rated and cause wrinkles.

Wonderful shot. It's easy to just stare at her and take it all in.

Question - how did you get her pupils so small?

Thanks Joe!

Here's an alternate version with the hair near her neck cloned out. I think I like it better...

And for the pixel peepers, here's a 100% crop to prove she's real and not plastic

It's easy with a 300 watt modeling lamp, 12" cone reflector, and 20' grid. I point it at the subject for about 10 seconds while we get each shot, then turn it away to give her eyes a rest. Watch out for clients with contacts, it will dry them out and make them very uncomfortable.
