Awww... My friend's 2 years old daughter - 03-23-2009, 12:04 AM

It was my first time shooting children this young so it was quite an experience for me in kids photography. She kept on running around so chasing her to get a good shot was a challenge for me. Before the shoot, her dad bought her a boba tea to get her energized at the park :D. One thing I learned from this shoot when compared with shooting models is the Expression of the kid is everything to the image :).

Learning to keep the attention of a toddler is what separates the master photographer from the occasional child shooter. It is a skill that you can learn from others but have to practice to get perfected.
Just imagine trying to photograph dozens of these rug rats in a day. If you chased them all around you'd need hospitalization.

These are good images.

She's adorable.

Love the shots with her laying on the ground.

Excellent work! I don't know that you need much more advice, as several of these shots exemplify what I would've suggested ... with an active kid you need to either place them where they feel safe and don't want to move (for at least a minute or two) or have someone else help you wrangle the subject. You did that in several, even if you didn't know it was a good idea.
