Mary Kay before and after - 04-21-2009, 12:08 AM

It was Mary Kay night again tonight.
The "models" arrive and they are cleansed of all their makeup.
I shoot a "mug shot".
They are made up.
I shoot an "after" photo.

We have a lot of fun.

I work for Mary Kay Cosmetics and I am the digital asset management guy there. I thought I was about to be shocked and see before and after shots of Mary Kay herself. :)

Pssst. Hey. Come here... It's not just the makeup.

The pose, PP, crop, and hair help tremendously too.

I swear the first shot looks just like a TMZ mug shot

It does certainly convey the message though. Nice job.

Uh Cappy, are you sure these are images of the same woman? You wouldn't try to pull a fast one on us would you? LOL! Great work with masterful lighting and posing.

Hey Jeff, I used to work in R&D. :)

The only thing that bugs me Tom is the change in position and you can tell there is some PP/lighting change due to the change in eye color. Of course, you aren't using these for any type of claim substantiation, so it doesn't really matter. I'm just OCD about that kind of stuff since it could bring NAD charges if used in any type of advertising. For the consultant's purpose it's great!

The secret is really in the mug shot.
Point them directly at the camera, focus and shoot without telling them.
One take and if their eyes are open, it's over.
The second one I give them my pep talk about attitude and posture. We take a few and they look at them on the laptop (tethered) and we either pick one or make some adjustments so they (and me) are happy.

No claims are being made.
I don't put up the ones that are not that dramatic.
Some are fantastic changes, others not so much.
